Our mission is to take your running to new heights! The Turtle Club uses the sport of running as a way to get fit, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and improve running speed, efficiency and performance.
We will coach you on how to run smart and avoid injuries during the training program. We will make running schedules/programs that are designed for runners of all fitness levels to prepare for 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, and the Full Marathon.
If you are not training with a race goal in mind, this program is a great way to run with a group and learn how to be a better runner. We will help you with the latest research-based running techniques.
If you are a road racer, or want to become a faster runner, hills and speed training sessions will help you improve your pace, run more efficiently and help you shoot for that next personal record (PR).
BENEFITS:
There are some unique benefits lined up for participants. Here are the highlights of what is included in your new coaching program:
Weekly Saturday group long runs. Most group long runs originate at the Alameda Open Space. The long run route will vary to prevent boredom and change the scenery.
Tuesday and Thursday evening runs. Mid-week runs will originate at the Athlete's Edge West location and will vary in route.
Running programs and schedules. Each participant will recieve a training schedule based on the training season and their personal race or fitness goals.
Pacing guidance and feedback based on actual race data. Beyond coaching the runners on how much mileage they should do each week, the Turtle Club offers guidance on proper pacing goals for each type of training run on the schedule. During the season, we will capture all of the runner's official race times for every race they complete. With race history/results, we can help set up a mid-season and pre-race progress report and pacing chart.
Cost: $150.00-Training prepared from sign up date until November 2009.
All particpants will also receive:

- a free dry fit (Driscience) Mizuno Tank top or t-shirt and a free 50/50 "In-Training" cotton t-shirt.
- Full access to your coaches. This may not sound like a big deal, but this is an extremely rare commodity in the coaching business, especially in large running groups. A group-run coaching program is not worth much if each runner does not have full access to the coach. This is even more important for beginners. We offer full access via cell-phone and email. We are also accessible during weekend long runs and weekly evening runs.
